Understanding Uncertainty

With this lesson students will study the Heisenberg uncertainty principle and how it can only be applied to the subatomic world, not to the ordinary world of macroscopic objects. In the quantum mechanical world, in order to make a measurement, one must disturb the system. In groups, students should produce a model simulating subatomic particle interaction and measurement and write an explanation of each component. There is a glossary section with recorded pronunciation.
